registry - Always open certain links in Internet Explorer -
i know gets asked bit, i've been reading things day. know, horrible. sadly, have single link on our page launches silverlight tool, , while wait html5 version, need this.
i read few answers , ended this:
windows registry editor version 5.00 [hkey_classes_root\rvl] @="url:hypertext transfer protocol" [hkey_classes_root\rvl\application] "appusermodelid"="microsoft.internetexplorer.default" "applicationcompany"="@c:\\windows\\system32\\ieframe.dll,-55177" "applicationdescription"="@c:\\windows\\system32\\ieframe.dll,-55176" "applicationname"="@c:\\windows\\system32\\ieframe.dll,-55175" "applicationicon"="\"c:\\program files\\internet explorer\\iexplore.exe\",0" [hkey_classes_root\rvl\defaulticon] @="c:\\windows\\system32\\url.dll,0" [hkey_classes_root\rvl\shell] [hkey_classes_root\rvl\shell\open] [hkey_classes_root\rvl\shell\open\command] @="\"c:\\program files\\internet explorer\\iexplore.exe\" \"%1\""
this works. if create html file link rvl://www.microsoft.com
, launches ie. sadly, keeps rvl://
, means browser can't run it, doesn't recognize it. have experimented using %2
, can't figure way anchor tag pass 2 parameters through, end empty url.
my registry keys based on ie.http
key. so, tried using ie.http:// www.microsoft.com
. causes ie open , close. in fact, key has items have removed see above, got me point (link opens, not work because of invalid prefix).
i've found ietab , think work, but, requires our users bit of configuring. it's bad enough expect make them download , run .reg
file. either way, it's challenge @ point, so, suggestions on how can add new prefix allows link launch ie, , run link, appreciated.
